1. Objectives

Once you have read the documentation and participated in the activities that we propose in lesson 6, European elections and the future of the European Union, you will be able to:

• Know the importance of elections to the European Parliament and the transcendence of the next call.
• Appreciate the European Parliament role and its position as an European institution representative of citizens.

2. Contents

In this topic, we wanted to analyze the process of the election of the European Parliament, the institution that represents the citizens of State members as the importance of being the next call that will be celebrating this year for the future of the European Union. The basic content that you will find in the lesson is the following:

• The 2019 European elections will shape the future of the European Union.
• EU and citizens.
• What is at stake in the 2019 European elections.
• The future objectives of the EU.
• It is not an irreversible process.
• How to be more informed about the 2019 European elections.

3. Activities

This week we propose you the following activities:

• European elections and the future of the European Union
• Assessment questionnaire
• Peer to Peer evaluation (Evaluation phase of two works and optional publication of your Reflection, once it has been evaluated, in the Forum prepared for this purpose).

4. Objetivos

Cuando veas la videolección, leas la documentación y participes en las actividades que te proponemos en la Lección 5. Elecciones UE y futuro de Europa, serás capaz de: 

• Conocer la importancia que tienen las elecciones al Parlamento europeo y la transcendencia de la próxima convocatoria.
• Valorar el papel del Parlamento Europeo y su posición como institución europea representante de los ciudadanos.

5. Contenidos

En esta lección hemos querido analizar el proceso de elección del Parlamento europeo, la institución que representa a los ciudadanos de los Estados miembros así como la importancia que va a tener la próxima convocatoria que se celebrará este mismo año para el futuro de la Unión Europea. El contenido básico que encontrarás en el tema es el siguiente:

• Las elecciones europeas de 2019 darán forma al futuro de la Unión Europea.
• UE y ciudadanos 
• Lo que está en juego en las elecciones europeas de 2019
• Los objetivos futuros de la UE
• No es un proceso irreversible
• Cómo estar más informado sobre las elecciones europeas de 2019
